Meditaion for Children
The Dalai Lama once said ‘if every 8-year-old child in the world is taught meditation, we will eliminate violence from the world within one generation.’ I say, imagine if we could teach them much younger than that to just listen to their thoughts and realise the power of their mind? Imagine if the stories they told were of being calm, of hitting their ‘singing bowls’ instead of a wall?
I did a storytelling session with Scout’s father and his company. Wherein I used the singing bowl to conjure up a feeling of relaxation and peace. The singing bowl told such a profound story to him that I felt compelled to send him one. He took it home to his children and now they’re able to begin their own stories.
If we can listen to a sound that brings our chattering ‘monkey minds’ to a standstill for just 1 minute in every hour we’re awake, life becomes a little way easier, and if we can instill this story in children as Louie Armstrong said ‘what a wonderful world this would be.”
